bad teeth

My Kharma has terrible breath! She does have peridontal disease and I took her to the vet about 6 months ago and had her teeth cleaned and 2 pulled. She has always had bad teeth due to poor nutrition from previous owners (she is a puppy mill dog). I am wondering if I should have her on a low dose pennicillian for a few months to fight the infection of this disease. It just doesnt go away! I keep her teeth cleaned but she still has terrible breath. Any suggestions?

Thank you! These two were beautiful, loving, helped me fall in love with bully-breed dogs, and inspired me to do rescue and re-homing of other dogs for for several years after they died (old age on the left and prostate cancer on the right). Both were adopted from a rescue; one was abandoned when somebody moved and the other needed a new home when her original owner/breeder died of a heart attack.

This guy just begged a picture with such a smiley face! Cricket, my yp, doesn't have that happy look. She has a perpetual "?-mark" face, watching, always eyes on. Someday, I swear, she's gonna start talking, "why are you doing that?" "When's dinner?" "Let's go for a walk!"
