Thanks for your heroic efforts with Sweet Pea. It is a blessing to see her now, smiling and standing.

I agree 100% and thought the same thing as I watched that episode. I will email them.

Thanks to all of you who went to Rosie's and worked so hard. I so wish I could go and help but my health will not allow that so my volunteers and I were busy collecting donations for the last two trips to RRLR and will get more supplies, food, beddi…

Mike, your efforts are admirable, but individuals dogs have a chance to get out of the mills and into rescue. Especially in Missouri, dogs are selling for almost nothing because the market has changed due to the economy and the millers can't sell th…

So Mike, then what is your plan to make sure McDuffee does shut down?

And what about Best Friends spending $60,000 to purchase about 150 puppy mill dogs in 2007-2008? It is public knowledge that they did this, and now they are objecting to the practice. What gives?

Mike, your view is the simplistic one here. As someone who has observed the terrible suffering of the breeding dogs in puppy mills, I don't know how you can reject the goal of doing whatever is possible to save individual dogs. If they are not rescu…

This is horrifying and there needs to be some kind of hearing in Columbia Heights. This is a textbook example of WHAT NOT TO DO. And you're right, this dog was failed by every human she ever met. Makes me just sick.

Lynne P replied to the discussion 'Favorite vets'
For 26 years I have gone to New Hope Animal Hospital, 763-593-1004. Dr. Randy Herman is fantastic, highly skilled and hires great staff. The four vets are smart, compassionate, good surgeons, and care for all small animals and two of them are avian…

Mike, your comments in the published article said that bringing in out of state dogs was a mental illness. The AHS is not the only organization bringing in dogs. Many, many rescues in Minnesota save both in-state and out-of-state dogs and your comme…

Karen, I agree with you about the AHS. Their insistence on killing 42% of the incoming dogs instead of treating their health needs and providing retraining and rehabilitation is appalling, as is their taking in out of state dogs. The fact they NEVER…

"This is like a mental illness in the animal-welfare community," said Mike Fry, manager of the Animal Ark No-Kill Shelter in Hastings. "We have a huge problem in shelters here. Why would you bring in any more dogs? We are oversaturated with dogs." T…

Those who disparage groups and individuals who are saving the lives of dogs in other states like to think it is at the expense of local animals. This is untrue. The Animal In-Humane Society states they kill 42% of the incoming dogs which is ridiculo…

Lynne P commented on the blog post 'Gay Animals'
I agree with jf. If Animal Ark is a political organization, it doesn't reflect my political views which are completely irrelevant to my rescue work.

Lynne . . . thanks for your input on the "gay animals" post. I'm ok with working alongside almost anyone who will focus on getting things better for the animals in this state - especially working against puppy mills - but I'm not comfortable working with a group that blatantly endorses a lifestyle that I don't agree with. If I identify with a group, I want that group to reflect who I am to at least some degree. I am working with people in my area, and in the twin cities area, to try to get bills passed in the MN House & Senate in 2010 to regulate companion animal breeders, so I am going to concentrate on that for now - probably won't work with Animal Ark so much anymore . . . I think we have a pretty good base to work with as it is for what we want to accomplish.
