From the Mail Bag

I opened my email very early this morning, before heading off to open the Animal Ark booth at the State Fair and found a wonderful surprise, an email from Leo's family. The email read:

Hi Mike,

I have been thinking lately of sending you a picture of Leo but didn't have a good one until now because he is camera shy. Below is a picture of Leo and his brother Sammy (age 2 1/2) after playing in the backyard the other morning.…

Primal Pet Food Now Available at Animal Ark Shelter

Today marked a mini milestone for me. I have been working on a plan to bring raw, natural food into Animal Ark for quite some time. The benefits of feeding raw, natural food are now well documented and known. However, managing a natural food program in a shelter environment can be challenging to say the least.…

This is one Handsome Cat!

If you haven't seen a Bengal cat before....check out Gandhi! We rarely see this breed in a shelter environment. He is one handsome loving guy and searching for a forever home where he won't be let outside as he was found as a stray.…

Volunteers Needed At Animal Ark Booth At State Fair

As we head into the craziness before the fair, we still have some available slots on the schedule to fill. We are asking volunteers to sign up for 4-hour shifts. Each shift will get a volunteer a free pass to the fair, along with free parking!

That way, you can spend time a the Animal Ark booth, and still have time to enjoy the Fair for free!

If you are interested in signing up, call (651) 772-8983 Ext. 97

Just got word from the crew that recently went to Red Lake that another very successful clinic has been completed. I look forward to all of the fun stories and their return!

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures

Sigh.

We have seen this over and over again in city after city...

When the established "trap and kill" organizations in power are challenged, they have little or no response. In other cases, their response only supports the no kill goal. Such is the case with the Animal Humane Society response to an article I wrote in the… Continue

Those that Would be Heroes

Just a quick note to direct everyone to this article I wrote for the Examiner... After seeing a story about the Animal Humane Society in Minnesota accepting their 2,000th dog from Oklahoma in a year, I just had to say something about it!

Problems with Ning...

I would like to start with a big apology to our regular blog readers! The blog has been down intermittently for a while. As some of you may know, Ning, the company that hosts this online community, has been making significant changes to their business model, their technology and apparently their staff. As a result, we have experienced much "down time" on the blog.

Hopefully, things will now be back up and running as normal. However, due to the problems, along with increased costs of… Continue

From Hastings to DC to Austin and Beyond...

To our regular blog readers, I apologize for being a little quiet in recent weeks. There has been much exciting news in the works! In addition to some of the recent announcements, I had the privilege of speaking at the No Kill Conference in Washington, DC, where hundreds of no kill advocates from around the world gathered at the George… Continue

Cabo Update

Cabos therapy is going quite well, his patella is straightning out with his brace! We may have a delay in healing as he may end up needing an arthrodesis surgery. We will find out in about 4 weeks wether or not this is necessary. Please send good thoughts Cabos way! He still has 12+ weeks minimal of therapy left, I do not know how I am going to let this handsome boy go!
